Brooklyn bound
Four months and 29 monochromatic paintings later, my sketchbook is on its way to the Brooklyn Art Library. All the books, submitted from around the world for this year's Sketchbook Project, will tour the country (including San Francisco) beginning in April. After the tour, they'll be archived on line and available to the viewing public in the collection of the Brooklyn Art Library.

Torpor in a Terrarium
PetCo . . . where the exotic "pets" go . . . to live what this observer hopes are mercilessly short lives behind glass. Most Red-Eared Slider Turtles destined for the pet trade are doomed to a premature death. Why purchase an Iguana that transmits salmonella and reaches 6 feet in length? And what becomes of this hapless reptile when it outgrows your fascination?
